THE PREMISE

America is not one story. It is a constellation of stories.

Our America Our Stories is inspired by the 250th anniversary of America, but built to last far beyond it. Stories about everyday Americans who you’ve never heard of, but whose voices have been rediscovered in the telling. Stories seen through the eyes of people who stood at the crossroads of their lives, and of history… and made choices that are still felt today. Some became famous later and some were never famous at all. But their lives reveal the American mind, the American conflict, and the American promise.

These stories are like fireflies at night. They flash for a moment. They call out. They ask to be noticed. They say: tell my story. Our job as storytellers is to run toward that light, cup it gently, and carry it forward.

At the center of this series is the belief that equality runs like a red thread through American consciousness. That red thread does not mean America has always lived up to its promise. It means the promise has always been there, contested, unfinished, and demanding to be fulfilled.

This is history with mud on its boots.
